I want to change politics for Nevada, and for the United States. As the first Millennial Congressman from Nevada, I want to bridge the gaps in political divide and perceptions that are hurting our state, not making it stronger. We have citizens in America who are willing to go across the ocean and die for their country, but who won’t cross the street to vote. I can help change that and activate the voter base in our state. I bring excitement to my rallies and events and I have an unbridled passion for a progressive America.
I will help to bridge generational, economic and party gaps by boldly calling for a 60% victory in my district (general election.) By setting the tone for cooperation, not destruction I will be able to bring in a new generation (the Millennials.)
I believe that Millennials will respond to programs that help to make our world a better place. For example, I will create programs that help to pay off existing student loans by helping their local community.
Some of my opponents have suggested raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. It’s ambitious, but short-sighted. I plan to bring clean energy jobs to Nevada. I also plan to help make it easier to being tech companies into Nevada. When I talk to residents in my district they aren’t asking for a higher wage, they are asking for more jobs in Nevada. Let’s make that happen and the average wage in Nevada will rise while unemployment plummets.
Everyone should be taken care of when they are sick. When I talk to voters, they tell me they don’t understand their healthcare options. They want more coverage and welcome better solutions. They are willing to pay more togged better access. They know that healthcare companies are charging too much and we are getting too little in return. This needs to change. Although it will not happen overnight and I will build a coalition which supports and strengthens the AFA. We will implement a long-term strategy to implement one Single Payer.
Raising the price of critical medication that has been around for decades should be not just illegal, but criminal. I’ll work to hold pharma accountable should they try hijack drug prices as they recently have.
We need to change that. I will work to overturn Citizen’s United. It is entirely possible to have campaign finance reform. I do not believe that “corporations are people” and they need to have less power in the political process. The majority of voters I speak with will never be able to contribute the maximum $2700 to any candidate. Super PACs do not have a place in American Politics.
Big companies often try to prevent people from being involved in the political process. As a candidate, I can tell you it is very difficult to get involved as a working-class citizen. I will help to introduce legislation to make general elections a National Holiday.
I will support tax incentives and public financing to bring solar back to Nevada and our country. It should be easier, not harder, to get affordable renewal energy for your home. I’ll call for an investigation into the Nevada Public Utility Commission (PUC) to understand why they continue to fight solar expansion in Nevada. I support allowing consumers to rely on solar and battery technologies to be as “off the grid” as they want to be. You should be rewarded for being environmentally responsible, not punished.
We need to bring back solar in Nevada. Not just rooftop solar, but solar energy farms that power Nevada into the future. Recent changes to net-metering were unfair to homeowners and make it harder, not easier to get clean energy. I will work to bring solar fields, factories, and innovations centers to our state. We have so much opportunity to thrive here. I believe that we need to investigate the role that campaign contributions made into decisions at the Nevada PUC (Public Utilities Commission.)
If the State of Nevada is not able to work with us to bring back fair net-metering to those who currently have rooftop solar, I will work to pass legislation to remove the power that energy monopolies have in our country.
Some of my very best friends came to this country legally and enjoy prosperity in our amazing nation. Many of them escaped brutal conditions and came to our country to truly live the American Dream. I will end inhumane deportation and create a path to citizenship.
The first thing we need to do is share the stories of immigrant families. When I talk to my neighbors they tell me amazing stories of hope for immigrants. So many of my friends come from families with amazing stories. Some came to this country to escape tyranny.
I support a path to citizenship that makes it possible for those who are stuck in undocumented status to pay a small fine, enter the system free of fear and become legalized. It must be easier to become a citizen if you came here legally.
We need to use technology, not crude symbolism to protect our borders. Everything that must be done to protect our borders can be done with technology. I do not support building a giant wall to keep everyone out of our country. Like the residents of my district, I do not believe that building a giant wall is the solution.
Finally, I believe that enforcement officers need to undergo mandatory training to better handle the difficult issue of deportation. While we want to safely legalize as many as we can, there are those who will have to be deported. We must train and equip enforcement teams to do this in the most humane way possible. We must also give them the tools to make sure that we are not permanently separating families.
When I talk to people, they ask me to focus on more than the minimum wage. They want jobs that they love, not just work to get them by. I will use my experience to draw in more high-tech jobs, and also focus on helping small businesses grow. It is easier to get a $250,000 student loan than it is to get a $5,000 loan to start a small business. We need to change that.
I want to make it easier for small business to access capital and grow. My entire career has been focused on creating small business and the jobs that come with it. I believe that we need to create jobs by investing in our nation’s infrastructure. I will help champion legislation to improve our roads, public transit and critical facilities.
I will consult with the gaming industry so that we can diversity their portfolio and bring in other tourism. There are many non-gaming solutions that will create thousands of jobs and will help to add a buffer to economic downturn.
